- Exercise #1: Form small groups of to collaboratively analyze what designers should consider when producing web communications. Ultimately, the purpose of this exercise is to answer the following question: “What happens when the text moves from page to screen” (“The Electronic Word,” 1998, 31).

Wednesday
- Discussion on Readings: What is digital rhetoric and how might designers use theories and concepts of rhetoric to produce web communications? How might digital rhetoric differ from the technical, cultural, political, and aesthetic strategies for printed material? How do concepts of rhetoric relate to design?

Friday
- Discussion on Readings: What is “technological imagination” and how might designers use its theories and concepts to produce web communications? Are there any limitations to this approach to design?
- Studio Workshop: Creating your first page
